Art on the Lawn has become a favorite on the Rockford, Illinois, art scene ever since it first graced the park-like front lawn of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford in June 2000. In 2007, the show moved to the beautiful Rockford College campus on East State Street.
Always held on the second Sunday of June, Art on the Lawn features a wide variety of fine arts in many media: ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber/paper, furniture, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wearable art and more. While most of our artists hail from the midwest, others come from as far away as New York, Georgia and Arizona to show their work. Acceptance into the show is by jury only, and artists must submit an application and samples of current work. Monetary prizes for best of show and several other categories are awarded based on the recommendations of experienced show judges. The number of artists varies each year, depending upon jury selection. For a list of artists who participated in the June 2007 show, go to 2007 artists.
The show is open to the public from 10:00am until 5:00pm. Food and drink are available for purchase. Admission for adults is $3.00, children 12 and under are free. Parking is free in the designated Rockford College lots.
To receive an application and information about Art on the Lawn, please see how to apply. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 21, 2008, to be considered for the 2008 show.
