Art on the Lawn has become a favorite on the Rockford, Illinois, art scene ever since its debut at the College of Medicine at Rockford in June 2000. In 2007, the show moved to Rockford College on East State Street. Many thanks to all those artists whose loyal participation has given this one-day show a great reputation for a great mix of beautiful, high-quality art.
Always held on the second Sunday of June, Art on the Lawn features a wide variety of fine arts in many media: ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber/paper, furniture, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wearable art and more. While most of our artists hail from the midwest, others come from as far away as New York, Georgia and Arizona to show their work. Acceptance into the show is by jury only, and artists must submit an application and samples of current work. Monetary prizes are awarded based on the recommendations of experienced show judges. The number of artists varies each year, depending upon jury selection. Space is limited to 75 booths. For a list of artists who participated in last year's show, go to 2008-9 artists.
The show is open to the public from 10:00am until 5:00pm. Food and drink are available for purchase. Admission for adults is $3.00, children 12 and under are free. Parking is free in the designated Rockford College lots.
To receive an application and information about Art on the Lawn, please see how to apply. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 12, 2010, to be considered for the 2010 show.
